April’s tales

Even though I haven’t been digitally active lately, I’ve been involved in many activities.

This year’s going to be 20 years since graduating middle school, so I got myself on a quest of gathering as many of my ex-colleagues as possible up for a small reunion. That’s easier said than done when involving almost 20 adults, each one with their own struggles, families and jobs, but we’re on the right track.

I’m quite happy that my late involvment at work hasn’t gone unnoticed and I am about to receive a one-time bonus as a reward. We’re not talking about a big amount, but honestly I couldn’t care less about the amount. What matters is the idea of my effort being appreciated.

I’ve got my hands on a digital copy of the latest edition of Tanenbaum’s Modern Operating Systems. I got it the day before yesterday and so far I couldn’t take my eyes off the monitor. Today I began reading around 07:00 AM and realised I should probably take a break only 3 hours later. That’s promising.

The TCP/IP Guide and my CCNP study are still ongoing, but I must admit I haven’t been keeping up at the same pace as I began. I’ve got a video study guide as well which helps. I’ll probably get back on track in the following weeks since I’ll be working from home again and my night shift turn is around the corner.

I’ve also got my hands on an almost-new copy of Jan Wengrow’s “Common-Sense Guide to Data Structures and Algorithms” from Vinted for about 17 pounds. I’ve got through the first around 100 pages and I must say it really delivers what its title suggests.

Another book I’ve been skimming through is the Network Warrior which I honestly regret not discovering earlier. It’s really a practical guide useful for my day to day activity.
